Be Body Smart and Lose Weight.

You must understand your your body’s natural shape and what is realistic for your body. Find ways to increase your flexibility and fitness.  Before embarking on a new fitness program it is always a good idea to check with your physician.  If you try to lose weight too quickly you will make poor food and exercise choices which could impede your progress. 

It is important to discover your body type

Do you put the weight on quickly and have a very hard time losing weight?  Are you stocky and build muscle quickly?  Does fat stay on your arms and thighs regardless of how much exercise you do?  Unfortunately some bodies are predisposed to Hold onto fat, while others are lean and muscular.  Discovering  whether you are an endomorph or mesomorph body type or possibly a mix of the two will help you determine realistic goals to set for yourself.

Do you feel bloated after you eat?  Does eating a number of small meals leave you feeling famished?  Decide for yourself what works for you.  There is no point in trying to fit yourself into someone elses eating plan.  Do you suffer from an upset stomach or allergic reaction when you eat certain fruits?  You need to get to know your body better before you get started.  

What does your body need?  

Your brain needs fat and glucose to function efficiently.  Your  joints need a small consistent supply of animal fat to remain health.  Your body needs fat to break down certain vitamins and minerals. Cell repair requires protein.  Carbohydrates are converted to glucose and provide your body and brain with energy.  If you do not have enough carbohydrates in your diet you will not be able to carry out even basic activities.  Do not follow a diet extremely low in calories.  You need balanced nutrition for your body to fuction properly.   Choose fresh preservative free foods and make healthful choices for snacking.

Keep track of your daily intake of food.  

This will help you understand what your body needs.   Tabulate your calories in vs calories burned (with exercise).  Keep track of how you feel when you wake up in the morning.  If you wake hungry, you probably didn’t eat enough dinner.  If you wake up tired you may not have consumed enough nutrition (regardless of calories).  Keep a diary about waht you did so on the days you wake up feeling great you can repeat the success.  You can lose weight healthfully at a reasonable rate if you listen to your body.
