Hypnosis for Weight Loss.

There is always debate where the subconscious mind is concerned.  Some people think it controls our everyday actions.  Other people think it’s just another part of a very complex brain.  Here is where hypnosis is usefull with weight loss.  Hindus and European’s both used hypnosis to help people to heal their bodies.

Years ago the medical community did experiments on magnet therapy.  The results showed a ‘placebo effect’  where people believed that they would get better with the magnets so they did.  The placebo effect is when people believe so strongly that something will work that it works even if the pill (or treatment) is fake.  This demonstrates the power of the subconscious mind over the body.

Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed “trance” like state where someone makes verbal suggestions the subconscious mind takes over and the mind obeys the “orders” of the hypnotist.  Most people don’t remember what happened to them while they were under hypnosis.

I have used hypnotism when I bought some weight loss CD’s and as a means to help control my increasing appetite and weight.  I was amazed that it actually worked and gave me  sense of self control that I’d never felt before.

I have gained and lost the same ten pounds over the years.  Most times I have tried to lose weight have not been pleasant.  I love food and hate feeling deprived.  I ate the wrong foods and my portions were too large.  I would get up feeling bloated and moody.  I finally took control.  After using the hypnosis tapes I have a supportive voice in my head directing me to make the right decisions for my body.   I discovered a deeply relaxed state and learned deep breathing technics to calm myself.  I did my DVD before bed and would often forget I had done it the day before.  I realized that my usual sugar and fat cravings weren’t there anymore.  Before the DVD I was always eating or drinking something.  I had a bit of an oral fixation.  This urge didn’t hit me.  I just sipped water and hot tea and ate only when I was hungry.  I didn’t even have my afternoon cravings for chocolate which is a miracle in itself.
I started wondered if it was some of that “placebo effect” entering in in my head since was I actually “talking myself into” believing that the hypnosis was cutting my appetite and changing my eating habits.

Is hyponosis a placebo effect in itself?  It doesn’t really matter, the end result is that everything changed for me, and I saw a dramatic change in my eating habits.  This all happened without sabbotaging myself and without all the emotional distress.

I don’t know how it works but it does work!
