As a society we are getting heavier all the time. This weight gain is effecting our health and our health care system.
We all want to be fit and slim. We are constantly barraged with images of skinny model like bodies. Women and girls are lead to believe that not only can they achieve this body but they should look like the girls and women in the magazines and in movies. This has lead to a society as a whole that is discontented with their bodies.
What is the easiest way to lose weight? First we need to figure out what made us fat in the first place. What behaviors have gotten us into this position? There is a book on the market about why French women don’t gain weight despite eating a diet rich in fatty dairy, and meat. What is their secret? Why are most Europeans and Asians thinner than North Americans?
There seem to be two main reasons for this. These populations eat fresh food. Not processed packaged food. Packaged food has preservative, more sodium, more sugar and more fat. Your body doesn’t recognize preservatives as food so it stores it in fat in your body.
The second reason is that people in these societies are more physically active. They walk or ride their bike everywhere. This makes a huge difference in the number of calories they burn.
The easiest way to lose weight over time is to eat foods in their natural unprocessed state or as close as you can. Use your car as little as you can. Make it rule that if you are going less than fifteen blocks you walk.
These aren’t neccesarily the quickest ways to lose weight, but they are the easiest and healthiest. This is not a strict diet and unlike a diet your body will start to crave the new healthier foods and exercise so it can be a lifelong healthier lifestyle. If you maintain your new lifestyle you will lose the weight permanently.

When you go grocery shopping avoid the center isles. Most supermarkets have the meat, fruits, milk, eggs and vegetables at either end of the store and in the back. The center isles are where all the packaged food in kept. If you stay to the outside walls of the store your cart will be full of healthful protein and produce perfect for losing weight.
Another suggestion is: Don’t let yourself get hungry. Eat regularly so that you don’t feel deprived. Once you feel hungry you are more likely to grab whatever happens to be available. Usually the high fat high sugar snacks. This is where the problem starts. If you stomach is full of healthy food it won’t crave the junk because it’s getting the nutrition you need.
A wonderful thing is that you can save the environment and lose weight by leaving the car at home. Walking every day is better for losing weight than if you train energetically a couple of times a week. Work walking into your daily routine – leave home a half hour earlier and walk to work daily. Gas prices are reaching an all-time high, think of all the money you can save while you’re using weight!
These are simple straightforward suggestions that everyone can integrate into their lives and achieve weight loss and lifelong health and fitness. Your body will find it’s healthy weight and you will feel fantastic. It will change your life!
